The defending champion Bulldogs struggled early in the sets but were able to sweep the UP Maroons 21-14, 21-15 at the UE Caloocan sand court.
Last season’s MVP, Edwin Tolentino imposed his will late in the sets, displaying the quick wit and savvy that led them to last year’s championship. UP would threaten early in the sets as Julius Raymundo and Alfred Valbuena’s combined height and offensive push would help UP keep pace at every first court switch but the Maroons would fade late in sets allowing NU to easily take the win.
