After coming from a win against the UST Growling Tigers, DLSU received more bad news as Norbert Torres and Kib Montalbo suffered injuries in the 2nd and 3rd quarters respectively.
Norbert Torres, who posted a stat line of 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists in 11 minutes of play against the Tigers, suffered a cut finger. He was seen emerging from the dugout after getting stitches and stayed in the bench for the rest of the game. Kib Montalbo, who recently marked a career high 18 points against the Adamson Soaring Falcons, was accidentally kicked by UST’s Kareem Abdul within the first 2 minutes of the 3rd quarter and suffered a torn muscle. He would not return to the game. The string of injuries started when point guard Thomas Torres fractured his foot against the Ateneo Blue Eagles. Afterwards, highly recruited guard, Terrence Mustre, was rumored to have sprained his wrist.
During the post-game press conference, Juno Sauler emphasized how hard it would be for the Archers to compete during the second round of eliminations. La Salle is now without 5 players: Thomas Torres, Terrence Mustre, Arnold Van Opstal, Norbert Torres, and Kib Montalbo bringing their active roster down to 9, which will make their path to a back-to-back championship tougher.
