Christian Standhardinger takes back seat as Hong Kong teammates make history

Defending ASEAN Basketball League champions Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Club manhandled the hapless CLS Knights on Wednesday evening, not letting up and taking a 104-81, wire-to-wire victory at the Southorn Stadium in Hong Kong.

This is Hong Kong’s second win in a row after suffering their first loss of the season last January 9. The league-leaders are now at an impressive 9-1.

Filipino-German Christian Standhardinger, a favorite to win this season’s Heritage Import MVP, had 17 points, seven rebounds, and two steals in the victory. But the show was all about his teammates Tyler Lamb and Marcus Elliott.

Lamb and Elliott made league history, as they became the first teammates to post triple-doubles in the same game. Lamb had 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, while the hot-shooting Elliott tallied 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

The game itself was another dominant outing by the hosts.

Even after limiting CLS to just eight points in the second frame to fully take control of the contest, Hong Kong continued to step on the pedal, leading by as much as 31 points, 97-66, after a Standhardinger jumper with 3:40 remaining.

This is the Knights’ eighth loss in nine games.

Filipino-Indonesian Biboy Enguio started the contest for CLS but went scoreless, bricking all four of his attempts from the field. For the second straight game, Rudy Lingganay was not in the lineup.

Brian Williams led CLS with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Frederick Fish had 19 points off the bench.
