After going for a career-high 28 points in their last win, Shola Alvarez stayed hot and led her Jose Rizal University Lady Bombers to a quick win over the Emilio Aguinaldo College Lady Generals, 25-20, 25-16, 25-16, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
JRU team captain Alvarez scorched the Lady Generals for 24 points, an impressive feat in just three sets. The former Pocari Sweat Lady Warrior, however, deflected credit to the solid support she received from her teammates and coaches.
“Makikita mo talaga sa lahat sa amin na gusto naming umangat at itaas pa ‘yung laro namin,” said Alvarez.
“Kailangan po namin ituloy ‘yung ganitong performance namin para maabot ‘yung goal namin which is makapasok ng Final Four,” JRU’s skipper added.
Alvarez contributed 22 of JRU’s 38 spikes, doubling EAC’s futile 19-attack effort.
JRU’s rookie sensation Dolly Versoza added seven points while setter Marcy Rivera tossed 28 excellent sets.
JRU (2-1) takes on defending champion Arellano University (3-0) next Tuesday also at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Ladeisheen Magbanua topped the Lady Generals with nine points while Jaylene Lumbo added seven.
EAC (0-3) limps into their match against Final Four contenders University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Lady Altas (1-1) on Thursday.
