F2 Logistics cruises to semis, sends Iriga City packing

It was déjà vu for the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, who replicated their straight-set win over the Iriga City Oragons last week, this time serving up a 25-19, 25-12, 25-17 win that propelled them to the 2017 Chooks-to-Go Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

F2 Logistics head coach Ramil De Jesus joked about their matchup against eighth seed Iriga City, saying nothing much had changed with their approach to the match.

“Last week, nakalaban na namin sila so parang inulit lang namin ‘yung ginawa namin last week ngayong quarters,” De Jesus quipped.

Just like last week, the Cargo Movers not only benefited from their superior talent and experience — they also received a boost from Iriga City’s heavy hand with errors. The Cargo Movers tallied a season-low 11 errors, while Iriga coughed up 27.

“So, alam naman natin na hindi talaga ganoong kataas ang talent ng Iriga. So, as much as possible, nag-focus kami sa execution namin,” De Jesus added.

American import Kennedy Bryan led F2 Logistics with 14 points, while Venezuelan wunderkind Maria Jose Perez managed 12.

The Cargo Movers await the winner of Thursday’s Cignal-Cocolife tiff to determine their foes in the semi-finals, which begin on December 9 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Serbian Tamara Kmezic put up her final virtuoso offensive performance for Iriga City, managing 15 points on 41 attack attempts.
