NU’s Jack Animam edges out UE’s Love Sto. Domingo for MVP

In one of the tightest races since the National University Lady Bulldogs dominated the UAAP Women’s Basketball scene, the defending champions’ Jack Animam was able to scrape out a close race against University of the East’s do-it-all forward Love Sto. Domingo to win this season’s Most Valuable Player crown.

Animam, who is NU’s anchor on defense, finished with 77.2857 statistical points, while Sto. Domingo finished with 75.6429 SPs.

The Perlas Pilipinas standout posted norms of 15.7 rebounds (1st) and 3.0 blocks (1st) per contest.

On the other hand, Sto. Domingo finished the elimination round with averages of 16.1 points (2nd), 13.2 rebounds (3rd), and 1.7 blocks (2nd). A technical foul slapped on her during a heated encounter against the UST Growling Tigresses last October 22 proved costly. A technical foul assessed automatically deducts five SP’s from the student-athlete.

Lady Bulldogs’ Rhena Itesi and Ria Nabalan finished third and fourth respectively in the race.

Itesi, a Congolese student-athlete, averaged 13.4 points (6th), 13.3 rebounds (2nd), and 1.7 blocks (3rd) to compile 71.14 SPs, while Nabalan posted norms of 14.4 points (4th), 4.7 assists (2nd), and 2.0 steals (2nd) to tally 69.00 SPs.

Completing the all-UAAP team is University of Santo Tomas’ Sai Larosa with 61.00 SPs.
