USC remains unscathed after shooting down SWU


The University of San Carlos Warriors continued their hot streak as they notch their second win in as many games to defeat their CESAFI rivals Southwestern University Cobras in an exciting shootout battle of the finals rematch, 74-68.

The Cobras started out strong early in the first quarter leadig by as much as six points. Midway through the quarter, Coach Junthy Valenzuela sought for time as Olago quickly responded, giving USC a one point lead. A JR Parker drive in the last seven seconds of the opening period gave gave back the lead to the Cobras.

The Warriors held a 13-point lead at one point, only for them to have it disappear as multiple defensive stops by the Cobras with addition to timely treys by Melvin Holper in the payoff period. The Warriors though would respond with late game composure while hitting game-sealing baskets,

The Cobras dropped their second game in a row after bowing down to the DLSU Green Archers. Prior to the game, coach Yayoy Alcoseba shared the importance of this game.

“This is a must win for us” he said. Alcoseba and the CESAFI champions dropped to 0-2 in group B.

“May talent at may skills yung mga bata. Ang problema yung decision making kasi mga bata pa.” stressed Coach Junthy who sneaked in with a victory despite the youth of his squad.

With the Warriors win, they move up to 2-0 in the standings and will gun for a third straight against San Beda.
