TNT shored up its frontline by picking up Glenn Khobuntin from the free agents pool, team manager Gabby Cui told Tiebreaker Times.
This comes a week after Harvey Carey decided to hang up his sneakers for good after 17 years in the PBA spent just with the Tropang Giga.
TNT isn’t only getting size with its acquisition of Khobuntin. He also adds more experience to the loaded crew mentored by Bong Ravena.
The National University product was taken by NLEX with the 10th overall pick in 2015 and became a key part of its rotation.
He was a Road Warrior for a couple of seasons until his trade to Terrafirma in 2017, along with big man Eric Camson.
Still he kept his solid play with the Dyip. He was among the reasons behind their promising showing in the 2019 season where they vied for the playoffs in each of the three conferences, but unfortunately fell short.
He was with Terrafirma in the Philippine Cup bubble last season. There, Khobuntin averaged 7.8 points on 37.3-percent shooting, alongside 2,4 rebounds per game.
Now he joins a TNT frontline featuring fellow Bulldog Troy Rosario, Poy Erram, Jay Washington, David Semerad, and Lervin Flores.
Khobuntin and Rosario were batchmates in NU. They won the UAAP Season 77 gold medal together that ended the school’s 60-year title drought.
