After years of striving to make their mark, the Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 team has found a partner in Strong Group Athletics, which has partnered with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas to support the women’s 3×3 program.
Sealed last week, this partnership aims to provide both teams with the resources they need to train and compete in local and international tournaments throughout 2025.
“We’re happy for the support of Strong Group Athletics,” said SBP Executive Director Erika Dy. “They’ve been an ally in promoting and supporting women’s sports, and we’re looking forward to providing our Filipina ballers the training and competition they need to reach their full potential.”
The Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 squad recently secured back-to-back podium finishes. The team, composed of Mikka Cacho, Camille Clarin, Jhazmin Joson, and Hazelle Yam, claimed bronze at the Manila Hustle 3×3 Season 3 in Manila. Kaye Pingol replaced Yam in the lineup that also finished third in Singapore at the Jumpshot 3×3 Season 2 tournament.
“At Strong Group Athletics, we believe in the power of collaboration to elevate Philippine basketball. Partnering with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas is a step towards fostering growth at every level—developing young talent, supporting our national teams, and strengthening the foundation of the sport we love,” said Strong Group Athletics President Jacob Lao. “Strong Group is fully committed to this cause, supporting the SBP in its mission, including helping women’s basketball reach greater heights with the ultimate goal of making it to the Olympics.”
The Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 team has a busy schedule ahead. They will compete in the Got Game 3×3 tournament in Manila later this month before returning to Singapore for the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup. The year will conclude with the Southeast Asian Games, where they will aim to reclaim the gold medal.
Meanwhile, the U23 team will see action in the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League 2025 – U23 Asia-Pacific tournament in May.
