Edward Camposano sees Alpha Insurance’s chemistry coming together

Alpha Insurance appears to have found its rhythm at the perfect time in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference.

With the semifinal race heating up, the Protectors’ top guns — Edward Camposano, Vincent Nadera, and JJ Javelona — are finally hitting their stride as they aim to lead the league’s newest team to a semifinal appearance in its debut conference.

“Andun na, onti pa para makuha namin ‘yung chemistry talaga namin,” said team captain Camposano after their win over PGJC-Navy, their second victory in their last three outings.

Formed at the last minute to compete in the league’s season-opening conference, Camposano admitted that building team chemistry was a major challenge early on.

But as the conference progresses, Alpha Insurance seems to have finally found its footing, as evidenced by its improved performances over the past two weeks.

“‘Yun talaga ‘yung hinahabol namin kasi halos two months pa lang kami nag-eensayo eh, so ‘yun talaga ‘yung hinahabol namin — ‘yung maging buo ‘yung chemistry namin,” he added.

Following a straight-set loss to Criss Cross, where their key trio sat out, the Protectors bounced back with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-23 victory over the Sealions on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena, boosting their semifinal bid.

Camposano led the charge with 17 points, delivering 14 attacks, two aces, and one block, while also contributing 12 excellent receptions.

Nadera — who began the tournament as a substitute before earning a starting spot — scored 14 points, all from attacks. Meanwhile, Javelona provided an all-around effort with 10 points and 12 excellent receptions.

The strong performances from their key players allowed Alpha Insurance to tighten its grip on the fourth spot with a 2-5 record.

“Sobrang saya kasi worth it lahat ng pinaghirapan namin simula nung natalo kami sa Criss Cross. Nag-mindset kami (nang maayos) na para makuha namin ‘yung panalo today,” Camposano said.

“Need talaga namin makapag-rest at the same time para makapag laro rin ‘yung second six namin to experience din. Para kapag pinasok sila sa mga ganung sitwasyon, ready sila. ‘Yun din sabi ng mga coach sa’min, always ready din daw kami kapag tinawag.”
