Shintarou erupts for 26 as E-Gilas whips Vietnam to open FIBA Esports Open III

E-Gilas Pilipinas’ redemption season is in full swing with a blowout victory to open the FIBA Esports Open III Southeast Asia Conference.

This as E-Gilas handed Vietnam a whopping 38-point defeat, 78-40, Friday night.

The Philippines yielded to Australia in the finals of the previous edition of the tournament last November.

Shintarou shot the lights out for the Playbook Esports-backed national team with 26 points on an 8-of-13 shooting clip from behind the arc, on top of 12 assists, four rebounds, and a steal.

Leading by just four in the early stages of the match, E-Gilas went on an 18-2 blitz to build a comfortable 29-9 margin in the second quarter.

The Philippines put the finishing touches in the payoff period, limiting Vietnam to just four markers while they converted 19 points.

Rial added 24 markers for E-Gilas on 10-of-14 shooting from the field while center Izzo chimed in 12 points and eight boards.

Custer, who has 22 defensive hall of fame badges, registered 11 markers, six steals, and a block.

Vietnam was led by Zap-1wn1 with 14 points on a perfect 6-of-6 clip while HieuPanTV just missed a double-double with 10 markers and nine dimes.

E-Gilas will look to clinch a semifinals spot later when they face Maldives at 9:40 pm.
