President Marcos, LSGH alum, congratulates La Salle after UAAP triumph

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. extended his congratulations to De La Salle University after the Green Archers clinched the UAAP Season 88 Men’s Basketball Championship on Wednesday evening.

Marcos, an alumnus of La Salle Green Hills’ Batch 1974 before he went to the United Kingdom for boarding school, shared his sentiments on Facebook.

“A great UAAP basketball finals series between UP and La Salle. Well played to all!” he wrote.

“Congratulations to the UAAP Basketball Champions, the De La Salle Green Archers! A well-deserved championship for a great team. Hail, hail, Alma Mater…”

The championship series proved to be a hard-fought battle. La Salle took Game 1, 74-70, before the University of the Philippines rebounded in Game 2 with a 66-63 victory.

In the deciding Game 3, the Green Archers sealed the title with an 80-72 triumph, marking the school’s 11th men’s basketball championship.

The final victory was celebrated not only by the school and its fans but also by friends and allies of the President, many of whom are known backers of both schools.

Among them is Mans Carpio, husband of Vice President Sara Duterte and one of the four prominent boosters of the Green Archers.

Meanwhile, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla plays a key role in supporting the Fighting Maroons.
