Another Team Lakay standout Jean Claude Saclag dominated, pounding Mohammed Mahmoud of Malaysia with a 3-0 decision to snare the men’s -63.5 kg low kick gold medal in the 30th Southeast Asian Games, Tuesday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The former wushu World Sanda Cup champion opened the first round with a series of punch combinations that connected to the body of Mahmoud. These unanswered blows put the Filipino up 3-0 just after the first round.
A vicious axe kick in the middle of the second round put Saclag away for good, keeping his 3-0 advantage.
Despite going into the defensive in the third, it was all but sealed for the 2014 Asian Games wushu men’s -60 kg silver medalist.
