Jorrel “Rellyclips” Aristorenas opened the Philippines’ campaign in the 2021 FIFAe Nations Online Qualifiers with a victory and a gallant draw, Thursday.
Rellyclips, using a PlayStation 4, sealed the Philippines’ first win and three points with a 4-0 thrashing of Malaysia’s Ahmad Akmal Abdul Rafil (AkmalJHD).
It was an upset as AkmalJHD recently won the EA Sports Fifa Global Series East Asia Regional Qualifier 2 in his first attempt.
The former United City standout followed it up with a 4-4 draw versus Mark Brijeski (Atlantide Wave Marko) to secure a point.
Renard “PitchBlack_6969” Yu could not secure a point, on the other hand.
PitchBlack_6969, using an Xbox, was on the receiving end of a demolition job at the hands of Malaysia’s Luqman Haziq (LuqmanHzq) as he succumbed to a 2-5 rout. It was not just his day as using an Xbox is clearly not his specialty and he lost 0-5 to Australia’s Marcus Gomes (MCFC Marcus Gomez).
Day One’s outcomes leave the Philippines at fourth place in Group A with four points.
Malaysia led the pack with an impressive haul of 15 points at the back of five wins and a loss, Japan followed with 12 while Australia is leveled with the Philippines with four points but currently holds third place thanks to a superior goal difference. New Zealand sits at the bottom with zero points.
Aristorenas and Yu hope to have a better day tomorrow against New Zealand and Japan.
The top two nations of Group A advance towards the Winner Bracket while third place is enough to enter the Second Chance Bracket.
