Jorrel Aristorenas has represented the country both with the national team and at club level.
In 2016, the Fil-British booter was part of the under-23 Azkals team. Then in 2017, he was a member of Ceres-Negros in the AFC Cup.
Last Friday, though, he was able to punch his ticket to another international tournament in a different field.
The 27-year-old has reached the qualifiers of the FIFAe Nations after topping the inaugural PFF eTrophy.
For the free agent, it’s an opportunity he relishes.
“Right now, I’m concentrating on my football. At the moment, I don’t have a team, so I’m just training every other day. Just keeping fit so whenever I get called I’ll be ready,” said Aristorenas, also known as RellyClips.
“But with the esports thing, I’ll go wherever you guys will take me.”
Heading into the Final Four, Aristorenas was the underdog as he took on Group B top seed Ciccio San Gabriel (Csangab).
Aristorenas squeaked past San Gabriel 3-2 in the first leg of their encounter. It was San Gabriel’s first defeat in the competition after demolishing his opponents in Group B yesterday.
With that, momentum was on Aristorenas’ side following his upset win. He prevailed 3-2 again, 6-4 in aggregate, in the second leg to book his spot in the finals.
Waiting for him was an old nemesis in Renard Yu (PitchBlack_6969). The Xavier School standout defeated him 3-2 in the elims.
Aristorenas ground out a 2-1 win over Yu in the first leg, then clinched the title in emphatic fashion with a 4-1 win to prevail 6-2 in aggregate.
“It was such a fun little tournament. You don’t get this often especially in the Philippines,” he said.
After three years, Aristorenas gets to wear the country’s colors again. And he is fully committed to shocking the world.
“One hundred percent!”
