Ravena leads MVP race, UST seniors in the top three


The “King Eagle” leads the UAAP Men’s Basketball Most Valuable Player race after the first round.

Even if the Ateneo Blue Eagles are just fourth in the standings with a 4-3 record, Kiefer Ravena leads the league with 70.85 SPs. During the first round, Ravena is currently second in the league in scoring with 18.3 markers per game. He is also tied at first in the assists category with 5.0 assists. On the defensive end, he is averaging 1.7 steals per contest, good for second in the category.

Aroga is currently fourth with 61.14 statistical points. NU’s foreign student-athlete is currently ninth in scoring with 13.6 points per game. In addition, he is second in the rebounding category in grabbing 12.7 boards per game and tied at sixth in the blocks category with one per outing.

On the other hand, Jeron Teng is fourth in the league in scoring with an average of 17.4 points. He is also the most lethal in heading to the charity stripe as he is making 4.3 free throws per game. However, the Green Archer is also committing the most turnovers in the league with 4.3 turnovers per outing.

– There are two Blue Eagles in the top 20 but it’s not senior Von Pessumal (#21- 38.14 SP). Ateneo’s FSA Chibueze Ikeh is #16 with 43.00 SPs.
– The most number of student-athletes in the top 20? FEU! Belo, Tolomia, and Jose are in the top ten. RR Pogoy (#13- 45.42 SP) and Russel Escoto (#20- 38.38 SP) gives FEU five in the top 20.
– Among the “true” rookies and sophomores, DLSU’s Andrei Caracut leads all rookies with 37.14 SPs, good for 24th, while sophomore Prince Rivero is at 19 with 40.42 SPs.
