Poy Erram won’t be around when TNT plays its second game of the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday against NorthPort.
The veteran center has been slapped with a one-game ban for his hit on Glen Yang during the Tropang Giga’s eventual 105-84 defeat to Hong Kong Eastern last Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. which spoiled their conference debut.
The Commissioner’s Office also ordered him to pay a fine of P20,000 as the technical committee confirmed the act following a thorough review.
Erram was already informed about the aforementioned sanctions upon being summoned by league chieftain Willie Marcial on the same night of the game. The decision was then made official on the next day.
It happened at the 7:48-mark of the opening quarter when the 35-year-old hit the face of Yang in an act of retaliation after being bumped by the latter from behind. This, as players were fighting for position near the rim.
He was then assessed with flagrant foul penalty two (F2), leading to an outright ejection. And as he spent the rest of the game in the dugout, TNT absorbed a harsh beatdown at the hands of the visiting team, who improved to 3-1.
Now, Coach Chot Reyes and his charges will have to make do without the 6-foot-8 big man against one of the mid-season tilt’s unbeaten teams.
They will be facing a Batang Pier side that’s coming in riding the wave of momentum of their 3-0 start, with their most recent win a 107-103 decision against Ricardo Ratliffe and Magnolia just last Wednesday.
Game is at 5:00 PM at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, the opening act of another twin bill offering which will see San Miguel and NLEX duke it out at 7:30 PM.
