PNVF unveils 20-player Alas Women ‘wishlist’ for SEA Games

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation announced on Tuesday the 19-player wishlist for the Alas Pilipinas Women’s team set to compete in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games this December in Thailand.

The federation has already registered the names in the official SEA Games database.

Still bannered by team captain Jia De Guzman, the national pool also features Angel Canino, Bella Belen, and Eya Laure, who are expected to lead the charge for the defending bronze medalists.

Of the 19 players listed, 13 are currently competing in the Premier Volleyball League.

Among them, only Kat Tolentino of Choco Mucho could be making her first appearance with Alas Pilipinas.

Joining De Guzman as setters are Julia Coronel of Galeries Tower and Mars Alba of Akari.

The opposite hitters named are Alyssa Solomon (Osaka) and Tolentino, while the outside spikers include Laure (free agent), Belen (Capital1), Canino (De La Salle University), Shaina Nitura (Adamson University), Vanie Gandler (Cignal), Leila Cruz (Capital1) and Alleiah Malaluan (PLDT).

The middle blockers are Dell Palomata (PLDT), Amie Provido (La Salle), Maddie Madayag (Choco Mucho), Thea Gagate (ZUS Coffee), and Fifi Sharma (Akari).

Defensive specialists rounding out the pool are Dawn Catindig (Super Spikers), Jen Nierva (Chery Tiggo), and Justine Jazareno (Akari).

According to PNVF President Tats Suzara — who is expecting “nothing less than the gold medal” — the team will undergo a two-week training camp from November 15 to 30 in either Japan or Taiwan.

However, the PVL will still be in the middle of its 2025 Reinforced Conference during that period, which could pose scheduling challenges for some players.

The indoor volleyball competitions are set for December 10 to 19 at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok.
