Phoenix in a bind as Le’Bryan Nash fails PBA height requirement

Phoenix will have to search for another import after Le’Bryan Nash was ruled ineligible for the ongoing PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup.

The Oklahoma State product went over the 6-foot-6 height limit for this conference after being measured in the league’s office in Libis Thursday.

He’s listed as 6-foot-6 3/8, per the documents obtained by Tiebreaker Times.

Fuel Masters team manager Paolo Bugia has been sought for comment regarding the matter, but has yet to respond as of this posting.

Nash, 32, was brought in by Phoenix to replace Jayveous McKinnis after sub-par showings that ultimately dragged the team to 0-2 in Group B.

He’s listed at 6-foot-7 in various profiles online, but the team was confident as the nine-year pro was listed as 6-foot-4 in the Indonesian Basketball League.

The former G-League campaigner is coming off a stint with the RANS Simba Bogor in the said league, and reached the 2024 playoffs’ first round.

But then, Phoenix was proven otherwise, leaving the team in a tough position heading into Friday’s game versus group leader Rain or Shine.

Given time constraints, Coach Jamike Jarin and his wards may have to play with an all-Filipino crew against the 3-0 Elasto Painters.
