Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao said last week Paul Lee will be out for about a month as he is recovering from a knee injury,” Guiao said.

“Paul is going to be out for four weeks. We will try to make it sooner but we will not force it. We will playing (him) if he is ready,” Guiao said.

While the Elasto Painters mentor knows it is a tough task to minus their main shot creator, Guiao says it is an opportunity for his other personnel to step up.

“We will try to survive and keep ourselves in contention but mahirap na wala si Paul Lee ng matagal. It is a burden on our side. On the positive side it is an opportunity for the rookies and guards to step in for his shoes.”

Barangay Ginebra head coach Tim Cone spoke highly of ex-NCAA MVP and PBA rookie Scottie Thompson, who dazzled in the fourth period of their loss against Star. He finished with 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists in only 21:16 of play.

“(Scottie) blew the house down. We saw these stuff in practice and he put it all tonight. We only had him for a week and he was phenomenal,” Cone said.

During the draft, Cone mentioned Thompson does not have to contribute right away, although he certainly impressed in his PBA opener.

Thompson added he was overwhelmed to have his debut coincide with the Manila Clasico.

“Kinakabahan ako. Nag-i-stop yung paghinga ko sa kaba,” he said. “Gusto ko lang maibaba yung lamang (sa dulo).”

Ginebra big Greg Slaughter was off to a good start in his 2015-16 season, notching a huge double-double of 28 points and 16 rebounds on 12-for-18 shooting.

Under the triangle, he received more touches particularly in the low post and sometimes the high post/elbow, and he says they should trust the new system.

“It’s going to be a process. This is our first game and we have to trust the process. There are so many facets of the triangle we showed in practices. The more time we are together, the better we will be,” he said.
