Jordan Adams erupted for 50 as San Miguel blasted Blackwater, 128-108, to go 2-0 in the PBA Governors’ Cup, Sunday night at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
The American winger took advantage of the Bossing playing without an import after letting go of Ricky Ledo recently. He dropped 26 in the first half before scoring the rest in the second to help his side break away for good.
Adams went 6-of-10 from beyond the arc and also tallied 11 rebounds as the Beermen sent their foes crashing to their third loss in a row en route to sharing the Group B lead with other 2-0 teams NLEX and Rain or Shine.
“We have a great team. There’s a lot of guys to worry about so I was able to find my shots within my shots,” said the ex-NBA pro with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Adams dropped 16 in the third quarter alone, joining hands with CJ Perez to lead SMB’s 38-point barrage to own a 94-83 lead entering the fourth.
Perez scored 11 of his 14 in that period as he and Adams outscored their foes, who only had 20 as they faded after a strong first-half showing.
June Mar Fajardo had 13 points and 14 rebounds in the win. Jericho Cruz had 12, while new guy Kris Rosales and Vic Manuel each had 10.
Going back-to-back makes San Miguel in fiery form entering its rivalry affair versus Ginebra on Tuesday also at the Big Dome, set at 7:30 PM.
Troy Rosario, on the other hand, had 25 points and six rebounds to lead Blackwater, which went down to its third loss in as many games.
Sedrick Barefield had 16 points. James Kwekuteye and Jewel Ponferrada had 11 apiece.
Meanwhile, Christian David added 10 for a Bossing side that is still waiting for help to come after parting ways with the underperforming Ledo.
Cam Clark is ready to come in as a replacement although head coach Jeff Cariaso said that the team is also talking to another option, which he didn’t name.
