ONE Championship announced last July 16 its schedule of events to close the year out.
As per tradition, Asia’s largest mixed martial arts promotion will close the year out at Mega Manila with Spirit of Champions. ONE: Spirit of Champions will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015. The event will most likely be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Other events that were announced are:
ONE: DYNASTY OF CHAMPIONS (SHANGHAI), 1 September in Shanghai, China
ONE: ODYSSEY OF CHAMPIONS, 27 September in Jakarta, Indonesia
ONE: TIGERS OF ASIA, 9 October in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
ONE: BATTLE AT THE GATES, 7 November in Macau, China
ONE: PRIDE OF LIONS, 13 November in Singapore
ONE Championship CEO Victor Cui, stated, “early in 2015, we knew that this year would be another amazing year with exciting growth for ONE Championship as we continue to expand at an incredibly rapid pace, bringing our signature brand of world-class MMA action into more cities in Asia. ONE has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first major mixed martial arts organization to hold multiple events in mainland China. China is the most populous country in the world and is rich in martial arts history and now fans in Shanghai and Macau can look forward to witnessing world class mixed martial arts that has already captivated fans from all around the world!”
Cui added, “we will also return to our favorite cities in Asia — Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Manila — with even greater shows and blockbuster fight cards that will ignite stadiums and get fans screaming for more!”
Rumored fighters for events
Banario returns in September
In a short talk we had with Team Lakay’s Honorio Banario, he told us that he expects to fight this September. The former ONE Featherweight Champion will either fight on the Dynasty of Champions (Shanghai) or Odyssey of Champions card in Jakarta.
Rumored fights and fighters for Spirit of Champions
The strongest rumor for the end of the year card is the rematch between Subsports’ Roy Doliguez and Evolve MMA’s Dejdamrong sor Amnuaysirichoke for the World strawweight championship. Doliguez lost via technical unanimous decision to the Thai. According to Erwin Tagle, ONE CEO Victor Cui wants to have a rematch of the fight here in Manila.
Brandon Vera and/or Mark Striegl will also most likely be part of the Spirit of Champions card as both thrilled the Filipino crowd in their fights during Warrior’s Way and Valor of Champions respectively.
