Tony Mitchell’s return to the PBA might have to wait yet again.
The 6-foot-8 forward won’t suit up for the NLEX Road Warriors’ 2019 Commissioner’s Cup match versus NorthPort Batang Pier this Saturday, as his documentation is not yet ready.
The team announced as much through their official social media account.
“His documentation is not yet ready. He’s here, he’s practiced with us. We’ll just have to wait until the next game,” said Guiao.
Given that, the Road Warriors are currently playing the Batang Pier with an all-Filipino lineup. Their starters were Juami Tiongson, Kenneth Ighalo, Cyrus Baguio, Poy Erram, and Asi Taulava.
NLEX are looking to get their first win in the mid-season joust after getting manhandled by a Terrence Jones-powered TNT KaTropa, 87-102, in their conference debut last Wednesday.
In that match, the Road Warriors had Curtis Washington as their foreign reinforcement. The former ASEAN Basketball League import tallied 18 points and 16 rebounds.
Mitchell is expected to suit up in their next game versus the Alaska Aces on May 29, Wednesday.
