Adelaide completes its sweep of the 2022 NBL Blitz preseason tournament by taking an 84-77 rout of Illawarra, Thursday at Darwin Basketball Facility.
Seven-foot-three Filipino Kai Sotto played just 10 minutes in the game, registering six points on 3-of-5 shooting with a rebound.
Still, it was Sotto who sparked the breakaway late.
Adelaide crawled back from 19 down, cutting the lead to 72-71 with 5:36 remaining.
Sotto then pulled up for a jumper that triggered the 13-4 finishing kick for the 36ers.
Robert Franks played his most impressive game of the preseason meet, tallying 30 points on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting clip with 10 rebounds for Adelaide.
Craig Randall and Daniel Johnson got 16 and 15 points, respectively, with the latter also grabbing 11 rebounds.
George King led the way for the Hawks with 20 points and eight rebounds while Mangok Mathiang chipped in 14 markers.
Adelaide will head to the US to complete their preseason buildup, facing Phoenix on October 2 before taking on Oklahoma City on the 6th.
