ONIC PH vented its ire on Nexplay EVOS, 2-1, to chalk its second win in the MPL Philippines Season 10, Saturday at the ICITE Auditorium.
In the winner-take-all Game Three, Nexplay EVOS went for a Conceal play midway into the 14th minute and ambushed ONIC PH near the Lord pit.
However, Kenneth “Nets” Barro (Wanwan) managed to use his Crossbow of Tang in time to give ONIC PH the upper hand in the three-on-four clash. He wiped all but one during the clash but Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez (Selena) was able to catch John Paul “H2wo” Salonga’s Hayabusa to complete the win.
The rookie gold laner finished with 10 kills and three assists against just one death in the 16-11 Game Three victory which lasted for 15 minutes and 43 seconds, leading ONIC PH – who was coming off a 1-2 loss to ECHO – to the third spot with a 2-1 standing.
“Ayun nga, late game decisions lang. That one decision na pwede sanang makapagbaliktad ng laro,” said ONIC PH coach Mark “Bluffzy” Reyes. “So siguro dahil parang sa momentum, medyo nawala lang yung disiplina nung Game Two.”
With Game One still up for grabs in the 10th minute, ONIC PH went for the Lord to try and take the advantage over Nexplau EVOS.
Stephen “Sensui” Castillo (Chou) started the skirmish by using his Way of the Dragon on Mico “Micophobia” Quitlong’s Ruby. The rest of ONIC PH then ganged up on Nexplay EVOS’ roam while Sensui turned his focus on securing the objective.
Despite losing Micophobia, Nexplay EVOS still engaged ONIC PH in a team fight where the latter displayed great layering of skills that resulted in crucial kills on Mariusz “Donut” Tan’s Beatrix and James “Jeymz” Gloria’s Dyroth.
Nexplay EVOS was able to defend the first siege but eventually fell in the second one during the 15th minute.
Sensui finished with a game-high 13 assists to go along with two kills and a death to lead the 17-4 Game One win in 15 minutes and 11 seconds. Nets (Wanwan) had eight kills and five assists against a death while Ralph “Rapidoot” Adrales (Grock) ended with a 2-2-13 line.
After the lopsided Game One loss, Nexplay EVOS turned it up a notch in Game Two and was actually on its way to a wire-to-wire win.
ONIC PH, though, staged a fight back in the 15th minute and took out H2wo’s Karina and Jeniel “YellyHaze” Bata-anon’s Julian before sealing the third Lord of the contest to push Nexplay EVOS to the brink.
Unfortunately, Donut (Irithel) led a remarkable base defense that saw Nexplay EVOS score a four-man wipe for the win.
Donut spearheaded the 12-8 Game Two victory with three kills, a death, and seven assists in 17 minutes and 57 actions. YellyHaze had five kills and four assists against a death while Micophobia (Khufra) put up a game-high seven assists against three deaths.
Nexplay EVOS dropped to 1-2 in the standings and slipped to the fourth spot.
ONIC PH will take on RSG PH next tomorrow, Sunday at 6:00 PM while Nexplay EVOS will return next week, Friday against Omega Esports at 8:00 PM.
