Nexplay EVOS parted ways with Jhonwin “Hesa” Vergara after two seasons, the organization announced on Tuesday night.
“You made a significant impact when you debuted in the league because of your admirable skills and clutch gameplay.
“Everyone was amazed by your consistency and prowess as a gold laner since day one,” read the team’s statement. “You are definitely a game-changer in the team and Nexplay Evos made a statement in every battle that you were in. It’s a pleasure to witness your greatness while wearing our flag and we will be forever grateful to you for bringing NXPE to the next level.
Hesa was brought in by the organization in Season Eight. He spent the first few weeks of the season on the bench before eventually earning the starting spot and replacing James “Jeymz” Gloria.
He helped Nexplay EVOS claim the third seed after the regular season before steering the squad to a fourth place finish – the highest in franchise history.
Unfortunately, Hesa saw limited playing opportunities in Season Nine with the arrival of amateur standout Mariusz “Donut” Tan. Nexplay EVOS finished the tournament at 5th-6th after losing to ONIC PH in the first round of the playoffs.
