The Far Eastern University Tamaraws are currently the team to beat this UAAP season.
Leading the Tamaraw charge is Smart Elite ambassador Mac Belo!
Even with an 8-1 slate, Belo is not contended with the team’s performance as he still sees inconsistencies with his team. “Marami pa kaming dapat ayusin,” said the FEU senior, who bagged the ACCEL Quantum/3XVI-UAAP Press Corps Player of the Week.
Last week, Belo led the charge as FEU needed a huge fourth-quarter run to fend off University of the Philippines, 68-57, and stay on top with University of Santo Tomas.
Belo scattered nine of his 12 points in the Tamaraws’ decisive 18-2 run to break away from a slim one-point lead and build a 63-46 cushion with 3:46 remaining. The North Cotabato native also pulled down 12 rebounds and dished out two assists in the crucial victory that pushed the Tamaraws within a win of a Final Four berth.
Currently the hottest team in the league with a seven-game winning streak, the Tamaraws aim to advance to the semifinals for the third straight season with Belo determined to elevate his level of play. “Ibang teams naga-adjust na, kaya kami dapat din mag-adjust,” he closed.
