M5: Vintage Kairi carries Onic to UB finals, sends Deus Vult to LB

Onic Esports leaned on the clutch retribution skills of Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol to put away a pesky Deus Vult squad, emerging with a scintillating 3-0 sweep to punch their ticket to the upper bracket finals of the M5 World Championship Knockout Stage on Tuesday at the EVM Convention Center in Quezon City.

The Indonesian champions rediscovered their lethal form after going the distance against Blacklist International in the previous round.

“Deus is strong because they play as a team. Their gameplay and objective gaming is really strong,” said Coach Adi “Adi” Asyauri of Onic on their experience playing against Deus Vult who played a competitive series against them.

It was Deus Vult who controlled the opener, establishing a 3k gold lead in the early game courtesy of a dominant 6-0 kill score but the tables turned after Kairi (Fredrinn) secured the third turtle.

Kairi then secured the 17th-minute lord objective that completed their comeback and go up 1-0.

In Game 2, Kairi’s Dyrroth finished with a flawless 7-0-8 KDA to lead a colossal 16-5 lead on the kill score and bring Onic to match point, 2-0.

Game 3 boiled down to a 21st-minute scramble where Calvin “CW” Winata (Bruno) scored a maniac to successfully deny DeVu’s base turret defense and complete the sweep.

Onic now awaits the winner between AP.Bren and Geek Fam ID for the first ticket to the title match.
