The FEU Lady Tamaraws improved to a 2-1 win-loss slate in the UAAP Women’s division by dominating over the struggling UE Lady Warriors in a straight set 25-14, 25-13, 25-19 on Wednesday afternooon held at San Juan Arena.
For both the first and second set, FEU cruised to double digit leads as UE’s defense seemed blank from the variation of attacks. The Lady Tamaraws built an early cushion that they used for their momentum for the whole game. In addition, their defense played a huge role in limiting the Lady Warriors stagnant offense.
The Lady Warriors kept the score close during the third frame with the help of several combination plays that worked early. Unfortunately, rallies came up short as the Lady Tamaraws were on point both offensively and defensively.
Despite the win FEU coach Shaq De Los Santos stressed the need for his team not to feel too confident at this point of the season. “Siyempre we’re happy. But we need to train hard pa para sa next naming mga kalaban,” he said.
The Lady Tams showed an all-around performance from their starters and few players from their bench as they left UE still winless for a set this season. The lowest scoring team in the tournament so far, UE has yet to find their rhythm towards the middle part of the first round of the tournament.
De Los Santos also fielded in players from the bench to finish off the game and to give them exposire. “Binabalanse pa namin yung ibang players para pagdating sa ibang kalaban ready sila,” he added.
FEU’s next assignment will be up against Adamson while UE looks for its first win against NU. Both games will be on Sunday, December 7 still at San Juan Arena.
