Kai Sotto out for Hiroshima’s weekend games due to back injury

Kai Sotto’s back injury continues to haunt him in Japan.

The 7-foot-3 Filipino big man will be sitting out Hiroshima’s weekend games due to the back injury he has been nursing since the NBA Summer League.

Sotto will miss the Dragonflies’ game against the Gifu Swoops in the 2023-24 Emperor’s Cup.

According to the team’s injury report, Sotto is dealing with a lumbar disc hernia. A timetable for his return has yet to be determined.

This injury also caused Sotto to miss the bulk of Gilas Pilipinas’ preparations for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

Also sidelined for Hiroshima are Kerry Blackshear, Dwayne Evans, and Nick Mayo.
