Jong Uichico says Texters not yet where they should be

The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters barely escaped the hard-fighting Mahindra Enforcers Saturday, 101-97 to book their first win in the season, and Jong Uichico was quick to downplay the team’s progress, saying they are not yet in the form where he wants them to be.

“We’re not where we should be,” Uichico said. “Not where I want them to (play the game). We still have long ways to go.”

The Tropang Texters did show more promise, as five players scored in double-digits to provide support for Jayson Castro, who topscored with 28 points.

“We will struggle a little bit. We will take some time to get in the groove.”

Uichico added with the absence of Ranidel de Ocampo (herniated disc), his two rookies Moala Tautuaa and Troy Rosario shall be given more opportunities to step up.Mo-Tautuaa-and-Troy-Rosario Jong Uichico says Texters not yet where they should be - philippine sports news

He is wary however the two needs to speed up their maturity when it comes to making good decisions on the floor and being able to keep up with the pro style of play.

“It gives them time but they have to mature in terms of situation in the game. That is what they still lack. Decision-making. They will get that as long as we keep playing.”

Rosario and Tautuaa showed more promise this time, combining for 24 points to help the Tropang Texters.

Uichio concluded by saying he is seeing improvement, and that TNT is around “50 percent” of what he expects the team to be.

“I have no time table. Mabuti na lang our games, medyo mahaba in between. It will give us some time to work on some things and see the improvemeng the next game. Here we showed some offensive improvement. Yung defense (naman).”
