Gilas Girls stay perfect, crush Singapore for 2-0 SEABA start

Gilas Pilipinas Girls cruised to their second straight victory in the 2026 FIBA U18 Asia Cup–SEABA Qualifiers, routing Singapore, 83-53, Wednesday evening at the STI West Negros University Gym in Bacolod.

The win followed their dominant 93-42 opening-day triumph over Vietnam, allowing the Philippines to seize the solo lead in the five-nation tournament.

Despite a surprisingly tight first quarter that saw the hosts clinging to an 18-17 edge, the Philippines quickly pulled away. Sophia Dignadice sparked the surge while Zaydhen Rosano provided the finishing touch in a 26-10 second-quarter breakaway, giving Gilas a 42-27 halftime lead.

From there, it was all Gilas, which stretched the lead to as much as 32 points.

Once again, every player fielded by coach Sandy Arespacochaga scored, with Tiffany Reyes leading the way with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Dignadice added 16 points, including two triples, to go with seven assists, five rebounds, and four steals without a turnover.

Rosano contributed nine points, while Rhiane Perez chipped in seven. Brianna Katigbak and Lea Pinuela added six points each.

Hui Jun Ayeni was the lone double-digit scorer for Singapore, which dropped to 0-2.
