Former TNT KaTropa import Mychal Ammons makes his PBA return after three years as he is set to reinforce the NorthPort Batang Pier in the 2019 Governors’ Cup.
The 27-year-old from Bethesda, Maryland last played in the Filipino pro league in the 2016 edition of the season-ending conference, when he came in to replace Mario Little.
Ammons averaged 14.75 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks across 12 games for the KaTropa, which he helped reach the semifinals before losing to eventual runners-up Meralco.
The five-year pro out of the University of South Alabama last played for the Tijuana Zonkeys in Mexico.
Ammons will lead a NorthPort side that’s coming off an impressive run in the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup.
The Batang Pier finished the eliminations with a 9-2 record to finish as the second-seed — their best finish in team history — before bowing to eventual champs San Miguel Beermen in the quarters.
