Don Allado retires from the PBA

PBA veteran Don Allado announced his retirement from the league Wednesday, releasing a statement.

“16 years ago today, I embarked on a journey in professional basketball not knowing what would be in store for me. The memories of perseverance, hard work, discipline, preparation, victories, setbacks (and) adventures will forever be engraved in my heart. This sport that I love has given me a life of discipline along with special people that have guided me in my success not only as a player but as an individual with substance,” Allado wrote.

The 17-year PBA pro spent seven seasons with the Alaska Aces before suiting up for Talk ‘N Text, Barako, and Purefoods towards the downstretch of his career.

Allado, who posted career averages of 7.5 PPG, 5.6 RPG, and 1.3 APG, thanked his relatives, bosses, mentors, teammates, and the league in his lengthy statement, and concluding by writing he is officially retiring from the PBA.

“That said I am officially announcing my retirement from playing professional basketball. Been blessed to have 16 years of pure bliss. The journey continues. Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart.”
