Devance joins Ginebra after 4-team deal

Joe Devance is set to reunite with mentor Tim Cone in Barangay Ginebra after the forward was shipped to the PBA crowd darlings as part of a four-team deal.

In the latest transaction, Devance will be joining the Kings, again reuniting with his mentor with Alaska and Star.

Hustle player Jake Pascual, and wing man Ronald Pascual — which Barako recently acquired in a deal with San Miguel and Rain or Shine — shall be sent to the Star Hotshots.

Mac Baracael ends up with the Barako Bull Energy. Ginebra big Dorian Pena was dealt to GlobalPort for young big Prince Caperal before Caperal was sent along with Baracael to Barako.

Cone loves to go big with his triangle system, and Devance, who averaged 10.4 PPG, 5 RPG, and 2.6 APG is a good reader at the forward spot and can also get baskets from point-blank off post-ups or high-low plays.

If Cone decides playing him small forward alongside Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter, that Ginebra frontline will be tough to beat.

Baracael joins a handful of wing guys like JC Intal, James Forrester, and Dylan Ababou, who all used to play for Ginebra in the past.

With Barako he can use his floor-spacing ability while Caperal adds size for the Energy in the interior.

Jake Pascual meanwhile brings his toughness to the Hotshots and the team can groom him to be the next Marc Pingris in terms of operating from the high post/elbow area with those hand-offs. Pascual joins two more young big men in Norbert Torres and Ian Sangalang.

It will be interesting to see what role Pascual takes in the Hotshots side which is now headed by Jason Webb. Ronald Pascual joins James Yap, Allein Maliksi, and Alex Mallari in a reliable crop of wing men for the Hotshots.

Pena gives the Batang Pier an extra body although with guys like Doug Kramer and Jervy Cruz, the Batang Pier could have added a rim protector instead.

Recap:

Globalport gets Dorian Pena
Star gets Ronald Pascual, Jake Pascual
Barako Bull gets Prince Caperal, Mac Baracael
Ginebra gets Joe Devance
