Clarkson to Gilas Pilipinas: ‘Let’s get to Rio!’


Many Filipinos were disappointed that Los Angeles Lakers upstart Jordan Clarkson was not in the final cut for the Gilas Pilipinas lineup, Clarkson is grateful for the experience of being able to experience “Philippine basketball” and is looking forward to support the team from here on out.

In a statement released Wednesday morning, the Lakers sophomore disclosed that he and his father had a deep conversation regarding the matter. His dad told him “to follow your heart” in any decision he will make. Moreover, Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak also shared the same sentiments and supported the decision that he will make.

To close his message, Clarkson said that he was disappointed that he won’t be able to represent the country in the upcoming 2015 FIBA Asia Championship in Wuhan, China. But he said that the 12 chosen to represent the country have earned the right to represent the country and are the best cagers suited for the job.

Finally, he promised to support Team Philippines together with the 98 million Filipinos worldwide.
