Bagunas limited by Panasonic as Oita suffers 27th loss in V.League

Second seed Panasonic did not break a sweat against Oita Miyoshi, 25-16, 25-16, 25-13, in the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 men’s tournament, Saturday at the victors’ namesake arena in Osaka.

Filipino import Bryan Bagunas was stifled to just 14 attempts the entire match, netting six points.

For the second consecutive game, only Curtis Stockton reached double-digits in scoring with 17.

The loss is Weisse Adler’s seventh-straight defeat, sliding down to 2-27 overall.

For the Panthers, Michal Kubiak was the only one to enter double digits with 15 points scattered through nine attacks, three blocks, and three service aces.

However, Oita Miyoshi gave up more than a set with 28 errors while the composed Panasonic only had 10.

Kunihiro Shimizu and Akihiro Yamauchi tallied nine markers apiece as the Panthers maintained their hold at the second spot behind a 23-6 record.

The two squads will collide again tomorrow at 1 pm in the same venue.
