Ateneo de Manila University-Loyola Gaming booted out Holy Angel University via a 2-0 decision to advance to the AcadArena University Alliance semifinals, Sunday evening.
Loyola Gaming’s Matteo took charge in the series-clinching Game Two with 17 kills and an assist against 11 deaths.
After chalking up Game One, Ateneo wasted no time in dispatching Holy Angel. They blitzed to a 12-5 advantage in the following stage to put themselves just a round away from advancing to the semis.
The troika of Blas, Diyelodax, and Dos were able to prolong the Valiant Archangels’ life for another round. But LG ended the match in the following round to seal the 13-6 win at Ascent.
Ateneo’s Dippy (Sova) added 16 kills and 15 assists against 14 deaths. Meanwhile, skwamy (Viper) registered 16 kills and five assists with 11 deaths in the win.
On the other hand, Blas (Sage) had 15 kills, 14 deaths, and eight assists for Holy Angel. Dos (Omen) chipped in 12 kills, 14 deaths, and four assists in the Game Two loss.
The LG won Game One through a lopsided 13-8 decision.
In the other quarterfinals match, the De La Salle University-Viridus Arcus survived a tough encounter against the Technological University of the Philippines-Gearhawks, 2-1, for the right to face the Far Eastern University-iTamaraws in the semis.
Ateneo will be going up against the USC-Warrior’s Arena in the semifinals on Sunday.
