Xavi8k clutch as DLSU outlasts TUP in AcadArena Valorant

De La Salle University-Viridus Arcus escaped a tight 2-1 encounter against Technological University of the Philippines in the quarterfinals of the AcadArena University Alliance Cup, Sunday evening.

With the victory, the Viridus Arcus punched their ticket to the semifinals where they will be facing Far Eastern University-iTamaraws.

Xavi8k (Killjoy) spearheaded DLSU’s 13-10 Game Three victory as he tallied 30 kills and nine assists against 18 deaths in the Bind map.

Though the Gearhawks held the lead in the early goings of Game Three, Viridus Arcus was quick to snatch it back quickly to lead by as much as four points, 11-7, in the second half.

Not wanting to go down without a fight, TUP took the next three games to trim the lead to just one, 10-11.

However, that was the last of the Gearhawks’ run as DLSU ran away with the next two to end the series.

Guelson (Cypher) added 22 kills and five assists with 17 deaths while suseJ (Omen) chipped in 17 kills and seven assists against 13 deaths in the series-clincher.

On the other hand, Blitzen’s 28 kills and four assists went down the drain as TUP bowed out of the tournament.

The Viridus Arcus had a dominant start in Game One in Haven, surging to an 8-2 advantage to bury the Gearhawks early in the match.

TUP was able to mount a comeback en route to the second half — winning four straight rounds through the hot hands of adi and iandesu to close the gap by just two points.

That, however, was not enough as DLSU bagged five of the last six rounds to draw first blood, 13-7, in the best-of-three series.

TUP bucked their slow start and started Game Two (Split) by bagging four of the first rounds for a 4-0 lead, but DLSU came back with ease as they won the next three to slice the lead to just a solitary point.

It was a nip-and-tuck affair from there, but DLSU managed to snatch the lead in the 15th round, 8-7.

Susej’s clutch Omen play kept the Viridus Arcus in the match. However, the Gearhawks were able to reach match point at round 23 and eventually tie the series in the following round, 13-11, via a flawless outcome.

The DLSU-FEU bout will be on Sunday.
