Ateneo de Manila University sophomore John Apacible deeply regrets the incident that occurred last Sunday morning.
In an open letter the Ateneo de Manila University Facebook page posted at approximately 10:00 in the evening last October 20, Apacible expressed his deepest apologies to anyone he has offended and the shame the incident brought to the Ateneo community, his family, and his team.
He stated that what he did was selfish and conceited. He closed in saying that he is ready to face whatever consequence the incident will bring.
As reported early yesterday afternoon, the Ateneo Blue Eagles have suspended Apacible for the entire duration of the second round. The sophomore is barred from attending any basketball-related activities of the team and will be re-assessed after the second round of eliminations of the seniors’ basketball tournament. Moreover, Apacible will be hammered sanctions by the university as well as an investigation is on-going.
