Just like their match-up against the UE Red Jins, FEU would once again hold 3 match wins going into the 6th match. Again the FEU Tamaraws would not be able to secure wins in the welterweight and the over 80kg division in a 3-4 loss against the UP Fighting Maroons.
This season’s finweight standout, FEU’s Ariel Bacud, continued to romp through his opponents with a 9-1 win over UP’s Rannie Mercado. Juztin Castillo secured his 1st win of the season with a golden point win over Eric Garces-replacement Raphael Martinez. In a kyonggo-filled (knock down and going out of the line) bantamweight bout, Ralpha Tagarao escaped with a 14-11 win over Josiah Cabanag. Elijah Marcelino dominated Sean Rodriguez in an 11-2 routing to give FEU a 3-1 advantage and be just one win away from taking the series. John Lloyd Sanchez replaced Clint Ferrer in the line-up. According to his father, Clint suffered an injury during his bout against his match against Raymond Cano. FEU-Fern standout Karlos Gaerlan dispatched FEU’s Sanchez 10-4. Joko Silverio dealt another blow to FEU’s 1st win aspirations with a 15-10 victory over Jayson Samson. With the series tied, Guillano de Dios outclassed Ivan Norombaba 16-4 in the 1st round to devoid FEU of a win.
