Amyah Espanol commits to FEU, turns down UST offer post Davenport stint

The rebuilding of Far Eastern University’s women’s basketball team is in full swing.

Amyah Espanol is leaving Davenport University after her freshman year to come back home and join FEU.

Espanol announced her decision on her social media account.

“I want to express my appreciation for the opportunity to join UST,” she said, referring to the pitch made to her by Haydee Ong. “This has been one of the hardest things I’ve had to do.

“After much thought and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to decommit. I wish the team all the best, but I have decided that the best path for me is with Far Eastern University.”

Coming out of Renaissance High School in Detroit, Michigan, Espanol went to Davenport to pursue her collegiate education.

The 5-foot-9 guard played in 20 games for the Panthers.

Now, she will become one of the cornerstones of Raiza Palmera-Dy’s program starting in UAAP Season 88.
