A champion back in high school, Amet Bituin aims to make a significant impact for Far Eastern University in his upcoming rookie year in the UAAP Season 87 Men’s Volleyball Tournament.
Bituin, who wrapped up his high school career with FEU-Diliman with a Final Four finish in Season 86, played a key role in the Baby Tamaraws’ first-ever championship in the boys’ division back in Season 85, where he was also named the Best Opposite Spiker.
The 19-year-old opposite spiker has set a lofty goal for his jump to college.
“Yung makuha po ‘yung rookie of the year and mag-champion po syempre,” said Bituin following the Tamaraws’ four-set, 24-26, 25-22, 25-18, 29-27 win over Ateneo in the 2024 V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge last Sunday.
Bituin looked comfortable in his transition and came up with 12 points as FEU forced a tie with reigning NCAA champion National University with identical 2-0 records in the rankings.
The 19-year-old opposite spiker said that being with his high school teammates played a key role in his decision to remain with FEU.
“Unang una, kami po talaga as a team.
