United City ended its 2022 AFC Champions League campaign with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Melbourne City, Saturday evening, at the Pathum Thani Stadium in Thailand.
Melbourne City was able to break the deadlock in the 22nd minute after Raphael Borges Rodrigues scored past United City stopper Anthony Pinthus from close range.
Come the second half, Jamie Maclaren doubled Melbourne City’s lead with a fine finish in the 68th minute.
Things got worse for United City at the 73rd minute as Alan Robertson was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
Marco Tilio then ensured it was a comprehensive victory when he scored Melbourne City’s third goal in the 90th minute of the match.
The result means that United City fails to tally a point in Group G after six matches.
On the other hand, Melbourne City and BG Pathum United finish with 12 points each and qualify for the knockout round.
