Adamson University has released Jerry Yee as head coach of the Lady Falcons.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the school expressed its regret in making the decision a day after Yee was announced as head coach of PVL team Farm Fresh.
“It is with regret that we announce the release of Coach Jerry Yee from his commitment with ADAMSON UNIVERSITY as the Head Coach of the Women’s Volleyball Team (WVT), effective today, June 7, 2023,” read the statement.
“We understand his desire to return to the professional league, and though it saddens us to see him go, he has our complete and sincere support in his new endeavor.”
Yee was tapped by Adamson to replace Lerma Giron months after UAAP Season 84 ended.
In his sole season with the Lady Falcons, he guided the team to a third place finish, bowing to National University in the semis.
According to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, Yee was released due to a ‘conflict of interest’ as the booster of the women’s volleyball team of Adamson, Akari, also has a volleyball team in the country’s only professional volleyball league.
Still, the school remains grateful to the contributions made by Yee to its volleyball program.
“The Adamson University community would like to express our gratitude for all his contributions to the recent success of the WVT in Season 85. It was an inspiring journey for the Lady Falcons, and without him as their Head Coach, their podium finish would not have been possible,” it continued.
“Once again, thank you, Coach Jerry. We wish you all the best!”
