Petron romps Cocolife, sets up rematch with F2 Logistics

Pouncing on their deflated foes, the Petron Blaze Spikers found a wide-open route to the 2018 Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix Finals, completing a semis sweep against the Cocolife Asset Managers, 25-15, 25-15, 25-16, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Cocolife, who filed a protest after spotty officiating in Game One, failed to put up a fight in Game Two. The Asset Managers’ two Serbian imports Sara Klisura and Marta Drpa only managed a combined 19 points.

Petron’s American reinforcements, on the other hand, were nearly unstoppable. Katherine Bell fired in 20 points while Lindsay Stalzer added 15. The Blaze Spikers doubled Cocolife’s 21 attack points.

Petron head coach Shaq Delos Santos liked his team’s form heading into the Finals, where they look for redemption after a heartbreaking loss to F2 Logistics last season.

“Very motivated talaga ‘yung mga players kanina na tapusin na ‘yung semis and makabalik sa Finals. Lahat kami talagang ang goal talaga is makuha ‘yung championship na dumulas sa kamay namin last year,” Delos Santos remarked.

“Magiging challenging para sa amin na talunin ‘yung F2. Pero ready kami and confident kami na makakabawi kami,” he furthered.

Game One of the best-of-three Finals commences on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Cocolife takes on Foton in the battle-for-third.
