La Salle bounces back strong with romp of struggling UST

Reeling from a heartbreaking loss against the defending champions University of the Philippines, in their last day of action, the De La Salle University Lady Shuttlers made sure to right the ship with a sweep of the University of Santo Tomas Golden Shuttlers.

Nicole Albo opened proceedings with a mastery of Sugar Vizmonte in the first singles match, prevailing 21-15, 21-11.

It was then up to Isay Leonardo to pad the advantage in the second singles. She dispatched Elizabeth Pimentel without trouble 21-11, 21-13.

La Salle clinched the tie in doubles, with Iyah Sevilla and Lindsay Tercias proving to be too much for Angelic Panotes and Evan Teope, hammering the Tigresses 21-6, 21-13.

The Lady Shuttlers never let up, with singles winners Albo and Leonardo combining to deal the same fate to their respective opponents Vizmonte and Pimentel 21-8, 21-16.

Sevilla completed the sweep in the last singles match, dismissing Panotes effortlessly 21-6, 21-11.

The tie victory is sure to give La Salle some confidence moving forward, and skipper Lin Javier revealed that tinkering with their rotation helps with it.

“Yung finocus namin iniba namin yung lineup. Try mag-experiment kung sakaling may better na lineup ganyan. Naga-adjust kami lalo na yung sa doubles talagang inaayos namin na maganda yung rotation and all,” Javier shared.

La Salle (2-1) will next face the University of the East (0-4) Saturday, September 30, starting at 1pm. Meanwhile, UST (0-4) will try to get that elusive win on Sunday, October 1, starting at 1pm versus the same team (0-4).
