Davon Potts on second round resurgence: ‘I owe it to San Beda’

After averaging a dismal 5.8 points per game on 27.7 percent shooting in the first round of NCAA Season 93, Davon Potts is starting to heat up, regaining last season’s lethal form come the second round.

“We’re giving support to every player that we have and we know that Davon can shoot. many people have been doubting him because he missed his shots in the first round,” admitted San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez.

“But me, as a coach, and the rest of the coaching staff and the rest of his teammates believe just one game, just one game and he makes a shot, and there will be a different Davon.”

To start the second round, the 24-year-old gunslinger has been on a tear. And he was pivotal during San Beda’s Final Four-clinching win against the JRU Heavy Bombers on Friday afternoon, dropping 14 points on four triples.

“I kinda had a sluggish first round but this mentality that I have right now, I just wanna make sure that I give it back to them going out with a bang,” Potts shared.

“Second round it’s not gonna get easy. Everybody’s gotta step up and make sure we do our part to try to get back-to-back.”

Potts had been crucial during San Beda’s championship run last season, and now he wants to do the same to bring back-to-back championships to the school that helped him break in. And he needs to do it now before he embarks on his next journey.

“I owe it to San Beda. They sacrificed for me and I sacrificed a lot for them,” said Potts, who is playing his second and final season.

“I wasn’t supposed to come back this year but I came back so I wanna give it all to them.”
