Lady Falcons stay unbeaten, sweep Lady Engineers

Continuing their domination of Group B of the Philippine Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, the Adamson University Lady Falcons made short work of the listless Technological Institute of the Philippines Lady Engineers, 25-12, 25-14, 25-13, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

With veterans Jema Galanza and Joy Dacoron doing damage offensively, the Lady Falcons consistently held double-digit leads throughout the match. The ladies from San Marcelino dealt their neighbors a quick loss, with the match lasting just short of an hour.

“We’re slowly getting that consistency that we’ve been looking for,” said Adamson head coach Airess Padda.

“I think we played great today. For a team like us, it’s a matter of always playing like this and continuing to get better. From now on, the competition’s only going to get tougher for us. We need to keep playing up to our competition,” she pointed out.

Team captain Jema Galanza provided a tremendous performance, scoring 18 points off 11 attacks, six aces, and a block. She was also a presence defensively, nabbing 11 digs and seven excellent receptions.

“Jema’s really coming into her own as a leader. She’s becoming very dependable which is what this team needs,” Padda added about her graduating open hitter.

Witha 3-0 record, the Lady Falcons remain atop Group B.

Alyssa Layug led TIP with 8 points while Ashley Jinon added seven. The Lady Engineers have yet to win a match this conference.
