Behind a masterful performance from their starting seven, the Adamson Falcons quelled a fiery UP squad with a 25-20, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20 victory at the San Juan Arena.
Sporting a relatively young lineup with most of their players being sophomores and seniors, all of the Falcons’ main guns ran a scoring clinic against the Maroons as four of their starters scored in double figures.
Leading the charge for the Falcons was sophomore Bryan Saraza, who notched a game-high 19 points, 18 off spikes and one off an ace. Savvy Beach Volleyball veteran Michael Sudaria contributed 15 points, which included a team-high four blocks. Rookies open hitter Jerome Sarmiento and middle blocker Dave Pletado pitched in 13 and 12 points respectively.
The Maroons, coming off a thrilling five-set win over the DLSU Spikers, were only able to take a single set against the mighty offense of the Falcons, but they still managed a solid overall performance, only giving up 25 errors to AdU’s 31. UP middle blocker, Wendel Miguel led his team in scoring with 13 markers, 11 coming from spikes. UP’s other middle blocker, Frederick Abuda, managed 12 points, with five coming off thunderous blocks.
